My Heart Sings Quiet

 Gloria Koya

I’ve knelt upon hills
To hear the birds music,
I’ve travelled over the seas
To hear the calm sea sing,

Where else can I go
To be far from the voices in my head?
The ones that says I’m too low
And can never forge ahead,

Could it be the East?
But I’ve been there before.
Or the West?
I can even give you a tour.

Oh, I hear a voice so sweet
Coming from my heart within,
It feels like the best medicine
Hidden beneath my skin,

Though I’ve got many place choices,
There’s no need to roam:
For I can just settle these noises
By dancing to my heart’s baritone.
