Dilly-dallying! We have a lot of dilly-dalliers like Bella but the question is,who is Bella? Bella is a very intelligent, beautiful and easy going girl. She always thought she had the best plans a student can have. Her plans were written, well defined, detailed and for ever task, there is a time range. Her plans for the 14th of February, 2021 was:

Wake up: 6:30am
Pray: 6:30am-7:00am
House chores: 7:00am-7:30am
Brush and bath: 7:30am-8:00am
Eat(Break fast): 8:00am-8:15am
Write articles: 8:15am-11:00am
Relax: 11:00am-11:30am
Read a novel: 11:30am-1:00pm
Eat(Lunch): 1:00pm-1:20pm
Read my note: 1:20pm-4:00pm
Whatever comes up: 4:00pm-9:00pm
Watch a movie: 9:00pm-10:00pm
Pray and sleep: 10:00pm-6:30am

Since it was a break for her, she decided to make her day simple. She indeed had a wonderful plan that could work for another person but not her type of person. Kemi is a person that cannot read in the afternoon only in the night. She failed to understand her type of person which made her a DILLY- DALLIER. Her plans were always altered in one way or the other. She had to read her note by 10:00pm-12:00pm because around 1:20pm-4:00pm whatever she read, she was unable to understand. She always ended up wasting her time. She had to procrastinate her reading moments.

Everyone in one way or the other procrastinate at times. We say: I will do it later; the right time would come then, I will do it; I am quite busy now but, I will do it later.

In one way or the other we drag our feet on the ground. The right question to be asked is: Why do we procrastinate?

Procrastination can be defined according to the Arcus dictionary as the act of procrastinating; putting off or delaying or defering an action to a later time. Procrastination is commonly said to be the thief of time. To procrastinate means to postpone doing what one should be doing. It means to stall, drag one's feet, shilly-shally doing. A person that loves to procrastinate or a person that procrastinate is called a DILLY-DALLIER.

Several people would have several reasons why they procrastinate. Every human being irrespective of the age, sex, nationality, religion, tribe, wealth, academic qualifications has twenty-four hours (24 hours). The only difference between people of this qualities is how well they spend their time.

The act of procrastination lead one to nowhere but destruction. Procrastination makes one lazy. Time waits for no one. Some people even procrastinate unknowingly because it has become their way of life. You waste your time, you waste your life. Time is life. We all have plans either written or unwritten, rigid or flexible but a dilly-dallier can never accomplish all his plans, vision and target.

One has to learn to stop procrastinating to achieve more in life. It isn't easy to stop because you will always find a reason to be distracted. Even life itself distracts a person but you have to say no to procrastination, learn to do the right thing at the right time.

To stop procrastinating, you have to understand yourself, you also have to understand what distracts you. You have to make up your mind.

Bella had a plan but she had to procrastinate some of her tasks because she failed to understand her personality. The time on her plan was wasted because she had to procrastinate. With time, Kemi became a better person when she understood her personality, reset her plans and utilized her plans. Kemi always thought she had an important reason to procrastinate her reading time but she later realized that she has been wasting her time.

To stop procrastinating, you have to set your priorities right. A distracted person would always procrastinate. There are other factors (individual) that lead to procrastination. Get that factor and stop it.

       SAY NO TO DILLY-DALLYING!
